The Sadr (National President) Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria, Alhaji Dauda Abiola Raji, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates, following a visit to the Ibara Correctional Centre, Abeokuta, on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The visit formed part of activities preceding the 50th Annual Majlis Ansarullah Ijtema and was followed by a courtesy meeting with the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, Mr. Kamaldeen Abioye.
Addressing the inmates, Alhaji Raji encouraged them to remain hopeful and committed to their personal reformation, stressing the importance of moral and spiritual development in preparing them for responsible reintegration into society.
He also highlighted the welfare objectives of the Golden Jubilee Ijtema and the importance of engaging relevant stakeholders as part of the organisation’s commitment to service to humanity.
Receiving the delegation after the visit to the inmates, Mr. Abioye warmly welcomed the Sadr and his team and appreciated the collaboration between the Correctional Service and religious scholars in supporting the reformation of inmates.
He explained that the responsibility of the Correctional Service goes beyond keeping inmates in custody, noting that its mandate includes correcting, reforming and reintegrating them into society while instilling moral discipline.
The Controller highlighted the various programmes available to support this process, including academic, vocational and religious education, as well as psychological sessions and sporting activities.
He explained that inmates have opportunities to pursue academic education from primary to tertiary levels. At the tertiary level, he noted that inmates can further their studies through collaboration with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), with the Service having recorded graduates among those who enrolled.
He added that inmates preparing for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations to complete their secondary education have also received support through the contributions of individuals and other well-wishers.
Mr. Abioye further noted that vocational programmes enable inmates to acquire practical skills, while religious education helps to uplift their minds through sound moral and spiritual lessons.
In response to the educational needs of the inmates, particularly those preparing for the NECO examinations, Alhaji Raji pledged financial support to assist them in their academic pursuits.
The visit underscored Majlis Ansarullah Nigeria’s commitment to extending its welfare and humanitarian activities to people in need, while supporting efforts that promote moral reformation, education and successful reintegration into society.
