The Grand Mufti of Egbaland and Chief Imam of Gbagura, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, has commended the teachings and conduct of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, describing its members as people whose character reflects the true teachings of Islam.
Prof. Balogun made the remarks on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, when he received the Sadr (National President) Majlis Ansarullah Ahmadiyya Nigeria, Alhaji Dauda Abiola Raji, and his entourage during a courtesy visit.
The Grand Mufti said although he had known of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for some time, he had not fully understood what the community stood for until he watched the Sadr’s interview on Splash FM 106.7 Abeokuta on August 17, 2026.
He noted that the interview, during which the Sadr discussed the teachings of Islam and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, gave him a clearer understanding of the community’s beliefs and practices.
Prof. Balogun said his subsequent reflection led him to acknowledge that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at was indeed practising what it preached, describing this as a sign of true believers.
He further noted that he had interacted with Ahmadi Muslims and could testify to their outstanding character, citing Prof. Sa’eed Timehin among the remarkable Ahmadi Muslims he had encountered.
Responding, Alhaji Raji appreciated the Grand Mufti for receiving the delegation and highlighted the Jama’at’s commitment to promoting the peaceful teachings of Islam and serving humanity. He also briefed him on the 50th Annual Ijtema of Majlis Ansarullah Nigeria, being held in Abeokuta under the theme, “Faith-Based Solutions to Global Challenges.”
The Sadr also highlighted some of the activities surrounding the Golden Jubilee Ijtema and invited the Grand Mufti to the symposium scheduled as part of the convention.
The visit concluded with the presentation of selected books and literature of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at to the Grand Mufti.
